Is the TechRing worth $275?

The FirmTech TechRing is worth $275 if you will use the data: it measures firmness, quality, duration and nighttime erections and turns them into a 0 to 100 Erectile Fitness Score in a free app. If you only want firmer erections, the $60 Performance Ring gives the same support and 12-hour wear time.

    Tech Ring Performance

“The tech ring provides valuable information and helps to see trends over time with benchmark data to see where you stand relative to others in your age group (and others for that matter). You can see results from different influences, such as how many drinks you had that night and medication, if any, taken. Additionally it is very functional, effective and easy to use as a “normal” ring, but more comfortable and provides data on that activity as well. Wearing overnight takes some getting used to and I found it best to build up to that over time. Definitely works as intended in both the data collection and functionality. I also use the FirmTech non-tech rings on occasion as well and they are easy to use and effective. A lot of work went into this by Elliot and his team and you can tell! Very innovative.”

TechRing facts at a glance

What does the TechRing track?

During sex, the TechRing measures firmness and duration. Worn overnight, it counts your nighttime erections and records their strength and length. FirmTech says healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep, and because they happen without arousal they give a clean read of blood flow.

The app rolls everything into a 0 to 100 Erectile Fitness Score. You can log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication to see what moves the score. One reviewer notes he could compare results by “how many drinks you had that night and medication.”

Who should choose a different ring?

Skip the TechRing if you have no interest in the app or charging a device. The Performance Ring gives the same erection support for $60. If you want the tightest possible hold, the MaxPR is snugger, though it is limited to 90 minutes.

FirmTech lists published research on the device, including a 2025 paper, Wearable penile devices: the TechRing, in Translational Andrology and Urology.

How we chose

This page was written by FirmTech, which publishes this site and makes every ring it ranks. We judge each ring on the same criteria: what it does (support only or support plus tracking), price, tightness, safe wear time, warranty and what verified buyers say on FirmTech’s reviews page. FirmTech’s own pick is listed first. Nothing here is an independent test or audit.

TechRing questions

See all FAQs
  • Does the TechRing really track erections?

Yes. The TechRing has built-in sensors that measure firmness, quality and duration during sex, plus the count, strength and length of nighttime erections while you sleep. Data syncs over Bluetooth to the free FirmTech app on iPhone and Android, which rolls it into a 0 to 100 Erectile Fitness Score.

More on this in the FAQ
  • Why does the TechRing cost more than the other rings?

The TechRing costs $275 because it adds medical-grade sensors, a rechargeable 12-hour battery, Bluetooth and the FirmTech app. The Performance Ring and MaxPR cost $60 each and give erection support without tracking. The TechRing also carries a 1-year warranty on electronics, versus 3 months for the other two rings.

More on this in the FAQ
  • Is it safe to sleep in the TechRing?

FirmTech says the TechRing is designed and studied for overnight wear and is safe and comfortable for up to 12 hours. FirmTech presented research on the safety of a smart penile constriction ring worn overnight at AUA 2024. Only the TechRing is meant for overnight tracking; do not sleep in the MaxPR.

More on this in the FAQ
  • How long does the TechRing battery last?

The TechRing runs up to 12 hours on a full charge, enough for a full night of tracking. It charges with the included USB cable, and a full charge takes 2 to 4 hours. The Performance Ring and MaxPR have no battery, so there is nothing to charge, pair or set up.

More on this in the FAQ
  • What phones work with the TechRing app?

The FirmTech app works on iPhone and Android and connects to the TechRing over Bluetooth. It is free with the TechRing. FirmTech says the data is stored to HIPAA standards, never sold, shared only if you choose, and can be deleted from inside the app at any time.

More on this in the FAQ
  • Who is the TechRing for?

The TechRing suits men who want firmer erections plus data: men tracking their sexual or heart health, men checking whether a treatment is working, and men who want numbers to share with their doctor. Reviewers on FirmTech’s site highlight the nighttime erection data. If you never plan to use the app, a $60 ring may be enough.
